Cherry Tree 2010

With Val’s help bringing the convertible down from Guam last night we managed to continue the tradition that started back in 2006 when I brought the vert home from NCM and gave her the first wash to remove the road trip grime.  The blooms probably peaked on Sunday but the tree was still looking pretty good yesterday and evening is definitely the best time to take the shots, which is obvious when you look at the 2009 pics.  I decided for 2010 I’d do something different and took the pics with the front of the car facing the camera.

After the 2010 pics I’ll also include the prior years,  I missed 2008 due to the trip to Europe with Andy & Biggi.  It’s interested the way the dates varied.  In 2006 it was April 10, in 2007 it was the 21st, 2009 the 12th and now this year it was the 5th.  So thanks to Mother Nature for the gift of an early Spring this year!

Mike’s ’08 Coupe Stereo

This is a copy of the post Mike made on Corvette Forum describing the stereo installation we did on his Atomic Orange 2008 Corvette Coupe. Since I donated my time & blood to the cause I thought I’d give the post a more permanent home here.  Click the more link after the first few pics as there are TONS of pics in this and I didn’t want to kill the load time on my front page.

Yesterday I finally put the finishing touches on the new system in my 08 Corvette. Below is a list of componets I used and then multiple pictures of the install. I also took this oppertunity to install the insulation kit that I purchased from Exotic Corvettes.

1 Full Insulation Kit
1 Kenwood DNX6140 (Built in BT)
1 Kenwood KCA-XM100V (XM module)
1 Audiovox CNP2000 (XM Mini Tuner)
1 Kenwood KCA-IP301V (Ipod cable)
1 Male-Female USB cable (to use both USB and iPod)
2 Subthump C6 enclosures
1 Subthump amp rack
1 Subthump amp rack cover
2 Rockford Fosgate P3 Shallow Mount subwoofers
2 JL 250/1 Class D amps (Powering subs)
1 JL 300/4 amp (powering Mains)
1 Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS (Mains)
1 set of Komoman adapter plates (sprayed black)
Various installation parts and wire from Darvex

We started by disassembling the interior.

Annual Cherry Tree Pictures 2009

Hard to believe it’s been three years since Rob & I flew out to pick up my convertible, but the warranty is up so it must be true.  When I got the car home from that trip it was filthy so of course I had to wash it.  That would have been April 10, 2006 and the weeping cherry in my front yard was in full bloom so I took advantage of that and snapped a few pics.  The following year that same weekend was the first cruise-in of the year for the CCDV so I prepped the car up for it and noticed the tree was again in bloom so I snapped a few pics again.  That picture to this day is my favorite of the car, it shows the changes I made during that first year – wheels, painted Z06 spoiler and painted door handles.  In 2008 I was in Europe vacationing with Andy & Biggi so I missed the tree’s very short window of blooming.  This year the tree has started to bloom and wasn’t fully bloomed yesterday but I thought I better take advantage of the opportunity while it was available anyway.  The pictures also would have been better with afternoon sun after it had passed over the house and would have been behind the camera, but again, strike while the iron is hot!  So without further preamble, the 2009 cherry tree pics.

Mother Nature Cuts Us A Break

After slamming us with a snow day on Monday Mother Nature made up for it by giving us a warm, if overcast, weekend.  It was VERY nice yesterday with temps into the low 70′s so we decided that we would have a car washing party at my place today and remove the winter scum from our cars.  Many of you have been giving me a rash of shit for not posting an pics of the new Z06 but she’s been so filthy that it wasn’t fair to her to post pics looking like that. We’re going to pick up some of the new Zaino AIO and do another session to put a real shine on the cars, but for now here are some pics of my Z06 and Val’s new Zoom-Zoom.

OK, so ONE of them is yellow

So I’m weak, what of it, I just couldn’t resist the deals that are out there.  I saw the post on Corvette Forum from Les Stanford Chevy about a leftover ’08 Z06 with the ’09 chrome Spider wheels and started to twitch. Started doing some research, checking used values, etc.  Kerbeck had a used ’09 they had gotten from a GM auction that had 1740 miles on it, but they were asking as much for it as the ’08 new at Les Stanford.  Combine that with the fact that the sales woman from Les Stanford did a great job following up and working with me, I eventually decided that this beauty would be my new ride.

I got an amazing deal on it, nearly $18,000 under the sticker price.  It is such a buyer’s market out there that I eventually came to the conclusion there was no point in buying used.

Now… the wait til it arrives!
